I am in possession of part of a post card with a picture of the sender on the back.  The address it was sent from is 20 West Mayfield, Edinburgh, Scotland. The card was mailed on Oct 20, 1906.  I've looked on the 1901 census but cannot reconcile the family living there with anyone one my tree. I cannot locate the 1911 Scotland census.  I tried Scotland's People but you cannot search their census records with only an address.  Can anyone help me.  Any ideas of where to look would be appreciated.  Many thanks, Irene Pantalone....Draper 917.

The census only records the people who were present on that very night in the household. So, if people moved between censuses, your letter and the residents of the house will not match.

Also, if someone was away that night (a boarder eg), they would not be recorded.

You could try local Directories. If the person is listed in there, you will find an address.

All the best.
