Need Help with Grogan, Black, Brown, Highsmith, and Duckworth!

Looking for info regarding Huett Black who married my grandmother in Arkansas in 1920's.  I'm also looking for info on her family, the Grogans and Medlins.

I'm also looking for any info for my GG-Grandfather James Brown (Brown 37857) who died during the Civil War, serving with the GA infantry.  I don't know his parents names and have no record of him prior to his marriage to Elizabeth Highsmith (Highsmith 144) in 1852 in Marion County, GA.  I know from census lists that he was born in NC around 1834, but no more than that.  I'm also trying to find out what happened to her after he died and my G-Grandfather Enoch (Brown 37805) came to Mississippi.  (It appears that their land was sold in the 1870;s).

Once in MS, he married Susan Penlope Duckworth (Duckworth 626) around 1880.  I'm trying to verify her lineage as well and determine if they met prior to his coming the MS and if so how, or if not, how/when did they meet since her family seems to have been in MS since before he was born.

Any help anyone can give with these issues will be greatly appreciated.  I've done some work on Ancestry, but am trying to be very careful to verify connections, which is very difficult for my limited knowledge of geneological research prior to 1840.  If anyone has advice, please let me know.  I don't want to just add any of my ancestors here without having info that proves them unique to this site.

Thanks in advance and God bless!! DJ

Have you tried using the FamilySearch website?:

https://familysearch.org/

I see that the James Brown you mentioned has parents attached. Though all of it is currently unsourced.

Yes - I've done some research.  These parents came through my cousins tree without sources - he doesn't have them either to my knowledge.  I've been unable to connect Jesse & Nancy to James prior to 1852.  I can't find an 1850 census with these two names at the right ages and thus don't know for certain about anything before that.
