I'm trying to find henry montooths father and from where and when they came

Question

My father was Charles montooth b 1917. His father was Charles as well. His father was henry. But I can't figure out who his father was and where they came from.  Somehow they got to America.  I have been stuck on this for years and can't go about further in my genealogy search until I figure this out.
