Lundy island - relevant to Lundy family name?

Question

My wife's parents were asking me about Lundy island, if the Lundy family may have originated from there. Has anyone done any research into this?

From what I can tell, the Island, located just 12 miles off of Devon England was called Lundy island well before 1200 CE. (http://www.localcollectorspost.org/id45.html).  We have relatives born in Devon, England (Richard Lundy) - prior to that they were called Lynde and not from Devon.

Is this just a coincidence? or does anyone have any additional information that they might know about this?

Maybe this is just my bad geography since I'm in Canada. When I google Devonshire Axeminster England, it comes up as Axminster, which is within Devon, England. Devonshire, Axminster isn't the same Axminster then that is east of Exeter and west(ish) of Dorchester?

When I lookup Devonshire and Devon on googlemaps, it brings me to the exact same location. It isn't?

A google search tells me that Devonshire is an arcaic term and that Devon and Devonshire are the same place.
