I believe he was:

1850 Census - he's at home with his parents

"United States Census, 1850," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M8Q8-L1P : 9 November 2014), Edward Spearman in household of David Spearman, Anderson county, Anderson, South Carolina, United States; citing family 841, NARA microfilm publication M432 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).

1860 - look at his address:

"United States Census, 1860", database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZT4-78P : 30 December 2015), Edward Spearman, 1860.

42nd Regiment, Anderson, South Carolina, United States

Need more concrete info, but it looks like he very likely was in the Confederate Army.

"South Carolina Civil War Service Records of Confederate Soldiers, 1861-1865," database,FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XGPG-XM3 : 12 December 2014), Ed D Spearman, 1861; from "Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of South Carolina," database, Fold3.com (http://www.fold3.com : n.d.); citing military unit Second Rifles S-Te, NARA microfilm publication M267 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 1959), roll 167.

And I don't have a Fold3 account, so I can't say if this is him or not - but it's the right name, right age, and from the right place.

And he's in the Second Rifles, likely of the 42nd Regiment Infantry.

And not much towards the answer about the Civil War, but at least a nice confirmation of the facts you have already about him:

Thanks I don't know how to past this to his profile,  I will try to write it down and add it if you could past it for me I would appreciate it.  THANKS

He and his wife had a son Jesse S . Spearman 1861-1910 that was allegedly Legally adopted after their death by the Grandparents David Desmond Spearman and Christian Slatton Spearman if you see anything about this information I would like someone to verify it, Thanks
Thanks
