Rollo would have billions of descendants. The royal descents alone would be numerous. I am descended from him through William the Conqueror, his decendant Edward III and his granddaughter Joan Beaufort.

If you are meaning his ancestors, though, no, there are no records that I have ever heard of. That is why his ancestry is debated, although it can be sure that he was noble because of his title Jarl.

Or else posterity gave him the title because they decided he had to be noble.  You can't assume they were sticklers about having a source for everything they wrote.
Maybe I've been watching too many Hollywood style adventures, but I always imagined the Viking Age, as a time when it was how strong/dangerous/nasty etc you were that was more important then who your parents were.

I guess you had to be rich enough to own a ship, but other than that, perhaps leadership had a lot more to do with how successful you were as a raider?

Rollo perhaps became ruler of the area around Rouen because the Carolingian King at the time, probably thought it was better to make 'friends' with the Viking on the doorstep, rather than pushing him out and waiting for the next one?
Thank you... My family is of Norman origin and came with William the Conqueror to England... It is in the oral traditionof the family that the family originates with Rollo but as you very well say , we most probably share taht with millions of people!
