Why aren't possible dupes showing up for this Robert Paddock?

Question

While working on the family of William Palmer Sr., and the widow he left behind (who married2 widower  Robert Paddock), I attempted to find existing profiles for him, and used both the search icon on the profile page and Find Matches under find. Both avenues resulted in no match found.

But then, as I'm adding his children, manually, I found THEM through the find match that comes up after entering someone manually, and through them, found multiple Robert Paddocks (130, 161, 306)! So why didn't any of those three show up when I did a Find Match?

I do see that there is a difference of 20-some years in birth dates, but this has never stopped Find Match before-- I often get matches that are 200 years different in birth dates.

Any ideas? You all know I love merging, but not if I don't have to. ;-)

Thanks for all the merging you do. It's much appreciated by everyone.

The difference in birth dates would explain this. The search icon on the person page currently just leads to a FindMatches search with conservative settings. You don't even see the options to liberalize them, like you would if you go directly to Special:FindMatches.

If you go to http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:SearchPerson you may have more luck.

Soon we'll be changing all this around. Some of those long overdue changes that you and others have suggested are on the horizon. Don't get your hopes up too much, it won't all be fixed. But there will be some important changes like allowing adjustments to settings on the results page.
