Merge stuck in progress

Please assist with the following merge

Claus Jochen Steffen (Steffen-62) and Claus Jochen Steffen (Steffen-47)

Since you are manager on both I would suggest that you try it again as from my perspective no merge has been proposed or taken place.

Comments

They were orphaned profiles when I tried to do the merge and got the merge in progress message.

Then I adopted both to see if that will help but I still get the same message.

How did you unstick it? That is the question. Is this some dark secret known only to the wizards and Elven people of WikiTree and if imparted to lesser mortals would result in immediate death?

When you go to propose a merge there are 5 options ( I *think* everyone can see all 5 but I might be wrong).  

Compare, Merge, Match, Reject, Remove.

You can enter the two ID numbers like you would to propose a merge but then click Remove instead.  It'll take you through another screen to confirm and then it will state that any connection between the two profiles has been removed.

After that it is unstuck and can be proposed and completed as normal.
