Happy Week End to All!

Hot again in my neck of the woods, which has curtailed my desire to garden. My summer flowers & pepper plants enjoy the heat, though.

Slow & steady for me this week on Wikitree. We continue to generate much interest in the One Name Studies project. There are now over 425 members.

What's new with you?

For those suffering from the heat....sit under the sprinkler!

Wow Doug you're becoming a Pro  this is a really amazing photo !

Still no real summer here, but for the next week it looks better and hope they are right we have summer holiday now for over a month, my husband is a coach teacher at a school so one of the great advantages is they have the same school holidays as the kids.

We were planning to improve and redecorate our bathroom next week, but if the weather finally is improving we probably are going to spend a few weeks at our summerhouse first and work on the bathroom later.

Lot of exciting and wonderful events the past two weeks, one of our two ''still living at home'' daughters (24y) finally and after a long search found a house (rent), she and her boyfriend now are living together, and we helped them a bit to get settled, she's a real chatterbox so we really miss her around here, but we're also very happy for them of course. Our youngest daughter (20) graduated and is now going to work, she has two jobs she loves, so she's also doing great and has no plans leaving home yet, so lucky us , still two kids at home , otherwise we might have to cope with the empty nest syndrome here :P

Thank you Bea....you know, it is amazing, if you take enough pictures one might turn out ok!
Nice photo!

All my cannas have fallen over in the heat down here in Spain.  :(
Wish I could sit under a sprinkler... CA is still under severe drought and we are in full wild fire season. However, since I am in a very dry low humidity area, near Death Valley, we are allow to use evaporative or swamp coolers.  Today is supposed to be cooler 104. And yes, you can tell a difference between 104 and 110.

Check one off of my bucket list. Spent the night in a cave in Crystal Springs, Arkansas, on my b-day. It's never to late to live your dreams. :) Found lots of gem grade Quartz to keep & share w/ friends & family.

hmm Crystal Springs... sounds like you are closer to me. I hope you faired the storm well. I am surveying some of the damage ... no roof leaks is a good start. I am in central Arkansas.
Charles, I hope you are well. We came in behind that big storm from the Ark-La-Tex. It had cleared off in Marshall, Tx & then intensified in front of us; other side of Hot Springs.

Some roads were wet, had just over-cast cloudy skies... witch was right up my alley for hiking these old bones up the trail. :)
Well I am in North Little Rock, if you find yourself travelling this way let me know.
John, John, John,

Get some Super Glue, take the gem grade Quartz back to the cave and glue it back onto the the roof of the cave where it belongs.  :) (or if you found it on the floor of the cave it also can be placed back on that pile).

...an old spelunker  :D

I am afraid that super glue will not hold it in place for the 10,000 years that it takes to grow a 1/4 inch. :)

I enjoy spelunking / geology but rather prefer Gold Prospecting... just not many places close to Texas to pursue this hobby. :)

P.S. ♫ I see you have your music head on straight ♪ Ever hear of this guy ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvLtNBm1yyA

Vincent & John are 15th cousin 1xr. :)

wonder if they will let me in the Notables Project ;-)

Just a quick Hi to all of you. Very shortly my internet is going to shut off, just for a while, as we have a new company install what I hope will be better and more reliable service. The rest of you may have to pick up the slack for this weekend. ;D
by Dale Byers G2G Astronaut (1.7m points)
Internet is back up and now to test it by running multiple devices and streaming TV at the same time.
With 4 devices hooked up and with tab;s open for WikiTree and familysearch I started to watch Star Wars Episode VII on VUDU at the highest definition setting and everything was running super fast and smooth, I think I am going to like this setup.

Its hot, humid and we have regular thunder storms here, but that is normal so we trek on.

Found out this week that an 1800's adversarial attorney of the family actually married in and thus became an in-law. That was disappointing and hard to digest.

My dad had a green thumb like you Doug; mine however are black. Keep me a safe distance from plant life.

Rod....apparently you garden the way I cook.
Oh, I do love to cook with fresh herbs, produce and high quality meats and spices for flavor, nutrition and then make it look appealing.

We're going camping this weekend. It's one of our family's favorite past times. The campground we're headed to has an old, hidden cemetery down one of the hiking trails so, fingers crossed, I am going to photograph it for the Iowa Cemeteries project.

I have been working on errors for the DBE this week. It's amazing what's been corrected through Ales' little tool so far.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Air conditioning at that camp ground?
Nope; we rough it. We're even taking primitive spots this time in our tent. We're a bit nutty like that :-D
My brother gets one with electricity and sits the ac blowing into the tent.
I rough it also when camping, No DVR just WiFi, AC, HD TV Hot Water and Flush toilet, ;D
Have a lot of fun and good luck at the cemetery Abby ! Sounds like a great weekend :D

Bad start on the weekend here. Back corner of house the eave of the roof took a clip from the limb taking off some siding and a fascia board but no roof leak. Saw the trees across the street laying over when the storms came in yesterday and lost all internet and tv. Got back online this morning about 3 am and tv came back up. Surprised ComCast was so fast. Just cooked some sausage and toast for breakfast and the wife is relaxed from the limb falling finally. Going to work on the house and yard today and should have someone to look at the siding and fascia to fix.. as long as the roof doesn't leak all is ok.

Have a great weekend all.

Went to fav local restaurant tonight & ordered BBQ Ribs as it was on special. Everybody else at the table was served their food & I was informed that they were now out of BBQ Ribs, they made the mistake of offering me any dish on the menu Comped.

I'll have the 16 oz Porterhouse steak cooked medium please and thank you very much ;)

I have been working so hard on real life that one of my favorite things has taken the biggest hit - G2G

Yesterday I took a long overdue trip to Beau's Brewery with a buddy who will be the Brew Master of Signal Brewery, a new brewery acouple of hours west of us, in Sept. It's fun to get a tour of a Brewery and have the words of a Master Brewer to embellish the day with insight! Good food, good company and good beer!

Happy Saturday WikiPeeps!

Mmmm Beers! :-)

I once toured Lone Star Brewery in San Antonio while making a glass bottle delivery from Ball Glass co in Louisiana.

I got all excited because our son is coming for a visit from out west and he loves visiting breweries, but darn, it's five hours from us! Next time we're in Ottawa.....

I just arrived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and will be attending the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh this week.  This will be my 5th year attending GRIP, and I'm really excited to be taking one of these great courses.

Got some very good news this morning. After his latest surgery, on Monday, my father is starting to regain the sight in his left eye.
by Dale Byers G2G Astronaut (1.7m points)
That is real awesome news!  I am so glad to hear he is healing fast!

Well this has been an interesting but not too much fun weekend.  As you can imagine, having the AC go bad in Tempe, AZ in mid-summer is not much fun.  And it took two visits from the repair shop to get it fixed.  But it was on warrenty and we found it never got higher than 84 last night with the AC shut off.  It's a good thing we had the walls re-insulated recently and the last of the windows double-paned.

Hi everyone, Since joining the Military and War Project, I have added about 30 profiles to the US Women's Army Corps Category.

I am proud to add those women who were trail blazers for females who are serving in the US Army and other branches today.

Come have a look at these unseen hero's at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:US_Women%27s_Army_Corps

PS: Thank you for all who served whether male or female and from all nations around the world!!
by Dorothy Barry G2G Astronaut (2.8m points)

Dorothy, WTG = Way To Go! ,  TYVM, I added tags for my Great Grand Aunt or my Great Grandmother's Sister if you prefer:)

could you check to see if I added all her needed Tags please Ma'am ?

Here is how to add Image Template for US Army:

|caption=remove & replace., as you like it

& here is a smaller one:

|caption=W W I.

use: {{clear}} after the image if there are more than one image in the biography. :)

I'll be working on the other profiles there. :)

Wow, thank you John for adding PFC Berdidine Duesler to the US Women's Army Corps Category!! I also added her to the Women's Army Corps group also since she actually served during 1944 and 1945. She would have received the Women's Army Corps Medal  (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Women%27s_Army_Corps_Service_Medal). It was last issued in September 2, 1945.

I know your family must have been proud of Berdidine for stepping up to the plate during the war along with other relatives who may have served. Not that many people realize the contributions women made back then.

I love the US Army Patch you added too!! Thanks for sharing the template with us!  Sandra Davidson, (cousin to Dorothy, who also served in the Women's Army Corps).

Sandra, Berdadine's Grand Father was: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Halstead-463 & there are lots of Revolutionary War, Seven Years War  Duseler Dussler Dußler s further up her lines: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dussler-2 :-)

You both deserve Generous genealogist WikiTree Medals, but I can only Give one per day :-)

Dorothy is on my "To Do List".

P.S. it is ok to add their Rank as a Prefix.

Good Morning John V and Sandra D.!!! You both been working hard this morning!! Thank you for the enhancements and additional details to our ladies in the two "Women's Army Corps" categories.  John, thank you as well for adding your Great Grand Aunt  "Berdidine" to the group!!!

I wasn't sure at first if we could add the ranks in the Prefix section. I see some do and some don't. Thanks for adding them to mine!! Maybe with all this sprucing up, other members will add their ancestors to the group. We went from about a dozen profiles to a total of 54 in the US Women's Army Corps!! Sandra was a big help in this project of mine. She added 11 profiles so far. Oh and congratulations Sandra on your new Generous Genealogist Badge!!!
