I wanted to share this family photo of my husband's grandmother Margaret Vandevelde Greant ( Margaret Gréant ) with the community. This photo was taken in Brussels, Belgium about 1911-1912. Sadly I know next to nothing about her, other than she was very "sporty" and loved horses and dogs. My husband has very warm memories of her. My mother-in-law said she was the daughter of a Dutch Baron and Baroness, but I have been entirely unable to trace them! I do have some wonderful photos taken when my father-in-law was four years old (1911) of her entire extended family posed in the garden of their estate. My husband looks very much like his great-grandfather. Sadly she developed Alzheimer's at about age 60 and spent many years in a rest home. I think this is a wonderfully elegant picture typical of the pre WWI era.

Thank you very much for sharing a wondeful photo, love the dog that are with the grant lady, she look like she might be a very Welthy lady, with her outfit she wear. I do not very often se a dog on this kind of old photo, and I really enjoy the photo

I could find nothing coming up on genealogy databases for this name.  Could you please mention the names of her other family members (husband, siblings, children, parents, grandparents) if you happen to have that information?

Actually I'm entering data from notes and family group sheets. My mother-in-law told me her m-i-l's maiden name was Vanderveld. But I just discovered a 1938 Brazilian consular document for my late father-in-law which states his mother's name as Margaret van der Ilest - and I have other notes which say her names was van der Elst. Her family was Dutch and her father was Baron van der Elst, but I don't know his given names. I am looking for information on this family. I have added some more photos to her profile. I have corrected her name on her profile.

Margaret married Camille Gréant, son of Georges Gréant in 1901. They had two children, Simone born in 1903 (married Andre van der Voodt) and Georges born in 1906 (married Marie Christine Isabel Van Cuyck)
