Family Search is one of the few free resources with access to archived records.  They are asking for volunteers to help index archived records.  It is really easy to do, all you need is a computer and internet access.  The link below give you all details.

This weekend they are having an indexing weekend trying to get 72000 people indexing over a 72 hour period.  Info below.

I am doing it, and will be continuing after the weekend is over.
I started indexing with Family Search when we did the 1940 census as a project with lots of co-sponsors.  They let anyone, even atheists like me, participate, and it's a way to both give back for all the good we get out of the free records at Family Search as well as make more records accessible.
