Hi! I was going through the wanted cats & found English inventors, which should have been English Inventors. I corrected that one, but the profile needs lots more corrections. Please take a look & help if you can.

Converted 3 inline references into inline footnoted references; some text editing.

I've been mostly absent from the Wikitree for seven months. I'm seeing many profiles with inline references that are not footnoted, and the references tag removed from under the sources label. Is that a recent change to the style guide?
no - style guide says to have

== Sources ==
<references />
* ....

Not sure what happened, but LOTS of profiles lost the <references /> tag. Drives me nuts when I'm sourcing profiles, cuz I don't always catch that it's missing, making all the inline <ref>sources</ref> I've added un-seeable!
ps - Welcome Back George!
All looks great now, fabulous teamwork!

This looks like a copy from Wikipedia leaving their categories and internal links in place. Of course, those don't have any counterpart in WikiTree. Categories would have to be created if the Categorization Project people would think it appropriate, and links can be fixed by converting them to [[Wikipedia:...|]] where ... represents the word or text to be linked.

In addition, just copying a Wikipedia page is not in line with WikiTree policy.

Not all of those links need to be there, but it really doesn't matter as the text is an exact copy and needs to be changed.

I added him to WikiData

I agree that we should not just copy from WikiData and I think WikiTree should have much more focus on creating a profile that is correct from genealogy point of view

why don't we use the same template names as WikiTree with the same arguments.... some data will always be the same and it would be easier if we had the same templates right now in Wikipedia they use 28 templates on his profile see info some of them feels nice to have at WikiTree

  1. Template:Age
  2. Template:Birth date
  3. Template:Br separated entries
  4. Template:Cite web
  5. Template:Death date and age
  6. Template:Infobox
  7. Template:Infobox person
  8. Template:Main other
  9. Template:Reflist
  10. Template:Wikidata image
  11. Module:Infobox
  12. Module:InfoboxImage
  13. Module:Navbar
  14. Module:Separated entries

please note - primary editing of this profile has been done - polishing still needed

That was an interesting afternoon - Have lost all the "red links" and replaced them with direct links. Re-written the bio so it doesn't look so much like a copy and paste and left a list of sources.

Still rough though - the inline sourcing facility has been lost so the inline sources are now direct links.

Will see if I can fix this.

I have now made two additional changes:

Rather than leaving it Regent Street Poly floating just in [London], I have changed it in line with the latest approach to London to [City of Westminster].

I have also added a link to the [University of Westminster] and [London Universities], of which RSP was the forerunner.

Was busy with this profile and think I might have overtaken your change re Regent Street Poly without noticing - could you take another look and see if what I have now left is ok?
Looks OK to me. Did you just add the link to Wikipedia?
no - lost that - popped in back in now though
Y'all are AWESOME!
