Was Beverly Waugh Boteler the son of Charles and Sarah Boteler?

My gggrandfather, Beverly Waugh Boteler was born on Feb 28, 1823 in the District of Columbia.  He died on July 26, 1886 in Hanoverville, MD.  My ggrandfather's Bible lists a Charles Boteler, Sr (b: about 1768, d: June 1841) and his wife Sarah Boteler (b: about 1780, d: April, 1846).  They had a son, Joseph Issac Boteler (b: 1809, d: August 1871).  Joseph's wife was Ellen Boteler (b: about 1812, d: 1872).  I have the will of Charles Boteler, Sr and in it he appoints his wife, Sarah, as executrix, but asks that she not appoint Joseph as her executor.  Rather, he wants all remaining assets left to his "other" children.  Does anyone have information about the "other" children?  I'm thinking that Beverly Waugh Boteler may have been one of them, but I have no proof.  I also have a very old, damaged photo of a man I think may be Beverly.  I also believe he may have been named for the famed Methodist Episcopal Bishop, Rev. Beverlay Waugh, who was present in the District area during the late 1700's and early 1800's. They are both buried in Baltimore's Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Beverly was an appointed Postmaster General of the US for Hanoverville and he worked as the Chief Clerk to the Master of Roads at Camden Yards, in Baltimore, for almost 30 years.  He was married to Eleanora Amelia Phillips and finally to Josephine Alverta Eliason. Their son, Walter Eliason Boteler, was my maternal ggrandfather.  Beverly Boteler, and all of his descendants, do not appear in the Basham family tree or the Botelers of Maryland.  He is my major brick wall.  I'm new to wikitree, so any information would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks

Hello Mr. Grabau

My GGGrandfather was Joseph Isaac Boteler. I would very much like to have any information about the Boteler family. My email is rfarse@gmail.com

Charles Jr. was my  GGrandfather. My name is Roland Boteler Jr. I live near San Diego, California. I was born in Baltimore in 1950.

Your family may have included Boutilier's from Etobon, MontbĂ©liard in France who migrated to Nova Scotia.  My ancestor Henry Butler Gould was the son of Sophia Magdelena Boutilier.  Check out Victoria Boutilier's website, www.heroictenor.com/vbsgenes/index and

Hi Roland,

Thanks for your response.  I'm relatively new to Wiki and find it a bit confusing and difficult to use.  If you have access to Ancestry.com you can access my tree (Grabau Family Tree) to see info on some of my Boteler relatives.  Do you have the names of your Joseph Isaac Boteler parents?  I've seen several trees where his mother is listed as Ann Beavin.  As mentioned in my question, my ggrandfather's (Walter Eliason Boteler) Bible has death listings for Charles and Sarah Boteler, and Joseph Isaac Boteler and his wife Ellen.  I have to believe they were relatives or they wouldn't be listed.  The Maryland State Archive site has a will listed for Charles Boteler. In it, he lists his wife Sarah and his son Joseph.  It also mentions his "other children."  Do you have any additional info on your gggrandfather?  Did he have any siblings, specifically a brother named Beverly Waugh Boteler (my gggrandfather)?

By the way, I was born in 1947, in Perry Hall, MD, and still live in the area.  My mom is still living, at 92, and has given me a good bit of info on her grandfather, Walter Eliason Boteler (son of Beverly Waugh Boteler and Josephine Eliason Boteler).  Unfortunately, she dosen't have any info on Beverly.
