Looking for William L. Childers born 1867 Missouri or Arkansas area.

Question

I seem to  hit a dead end with my grandfather, William married Georgia or george.  Granfathers name was Howard Greig Childers and my father was named Wilbur Greig Childers.

Thanks Greig, I found it.  I also found out where the name Greig comes from.  Martha Greig apparently died giving birth to Greig Lewis.  Alvis's sister George named her next child after her.  Howard Greig Childers was my grand father.  My father was Greig Childers.  I am wondering if you know Michael Lewis on ancestry.  I gave him this information a couple of days ago.  We are a dna match.

There  is a Greig family in Crawford County Ar mentioned in Goodspeed"s History of NW Arkansas which is the family Martha Ann Greig came from. I hope to finally join Ancestry.com next month and take their autosomal and Y-DNA tests to join my FamilyTree DNA and 23and Me tests. I don't know exactly which Michael Lewis you are talking about but I have a known Michael Lewis cousin (also verified by a match on the Family Tree test) with whom Alvis Edwin Lewis is the ancestor but from different wives. James Greig and Lucinda Morton were the parents of Martha Ann Greig. . I belong to both the Lewis Surname DNA Project(on Facebook) and the Solomon Surname DNA Project. I can explain this later.I think I may have a picture of George Ann-it was identified by relatives in Adair County,OK. Please contact me by my email if you wish. I never joined Ancestry.com because I thought I could easily find my Lewis genealogy on the free internet! I should have joined in the very start of my search!

Since you are in the DNA project for the Lewis family, I have another question.  I seem to have a Lewis from another line on my mothers side of the family.  Mary E. Lewis born in Virginia about 1827 and married to James A. Hancock in Missouri about 1850.  I am having trouble finding her parents.  Any ideas?

Parts of the Lewis Surname DNA Project at FamilyTreeDNA are open to the public including charts of Lewis families. That might be a place to start. Click under "Y-DNA Results",  "Classic"  and you will find a lot of Virginia Lewis families.  I'm not sure if the family tree of participants is still available or if so open to the public.  The Lewis Surname DNA Project has a Facebook page and you might contact Janet Crain.  Do a search for "Lewis DNA Project Participant's Genealogy Charts" in Google and you will find a blogspot page,scroll down to the bottom to Lewis Families in America before 1700 and look there.I have come across this Mary E. Lewis before and will seee if I can find something.
