John Northend (Northend-9) conflict in sources

Good morning!

I am really hoping someone has been down this path before and can set my feet in the right direction.

There is a book called "Early Settlers of Rowley, Massachusetts"  (Written By Brainard Blodgette and Amos Everett Jewett, published by Picton Press of Camden, Maine, 1933) and on pages 256-7 it details the will of a John Northend of Ripplingham, Rowley, Yorkshire, England.  In it a son named Ezekiel is named.  That Ezekiel, they say, is the Ezekiel Northend who emigrated to the New World (Northend-3). (http://mv.ancestry.com/viewer/128773cf-98e4-470c-9f7d-ad1d208e8489/14842249/1832904693)

However when I look at Ezekiel, he is linked in Wikitree as the son of a somewhat different-looking John Norton (Norton 3838).

I had located previouslly, a John Northend of Rowley, b. 1595, and his marriage to Elizabeth (Johnson) born 1598.  The current connection has John Northend (-9) married to an Elizabeth Cole, b. 1588.  This John Northend's church life centered around St John the Baptist in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, 22 miles from Weeton, where his brother Robert was Lord.    Both Weeton and Halifax are about 60 miles from Ripplingham.

The John Northend that I have found is also reported to have died in 1625.

Who's confusing what?  Is the 1933 book in error?  Has it been discredited?

Help!

All the best
