My family has a pile of letters written in the 20th Century mostly from the 1960s to 1990s from Elva Selene Shipman (1904-1999)  to her daughter Jean Shipman Saucer (1928-2016). Selene grew up in Lowndes County, Alabama and was the daughter of Ada Lee Day Hobby and James Crook Hobby. She was a descent of the Day. Pace, and Lee families that settled in the Southern States. She married Robert Lewis Shipman from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. but they divorced before these letters were written. Jean Saucer her daughter was a poet and writer that married Rayford Thurston Saucer who was a pioneer in the NASA space program and in post traumatic stress disorder. The letters cover themes of everyday life and touch on family matters. If there is interest, the family will do a legacy project to scan and make the letters available online on Wiki and perhaps Ancestry.com. Any interest? There are some photos, too.
