Aye Jaime,

Did you have any result as to where Munro Ross and Jean Gillespie were buried?

Actallky I can not find the tomb of Munro Ross and your wife Jean Gillespie.According of book and letters it may be that in Bathgate Cemetery, they are buried.

Aye Jaime,

It is getting a bit late here now, but I will see if I can find some leads for you. Bathgate is not far from where I live. wink

Aye Jaime,

There are 4 cemeteries/churchyards in Bathgate. However, the Boghead Cemetery was only opened in 1936 and the Glasgow Road Cemetery opened in 1860. As Munro Ross died 23-09-1845, he is unlikely to be buried in either of these cemeteries. This leaves the either the High Church or Kirkton Old Church graveyards, the latter being the most likely, because it contains graves from 1678 to 1964. However, it doesn't appear to be recorded on the BillionGraves website: Old_Kirkton_Church_Bathgate

Neither has a grave for Munro Ross been recorded in the High Church, Bathgate, on the same website.

I have found the original Bathgate Parish Register entry for the death of Munro Ross, 23-09-1845, but have not obtained the image from the ScotlandsPeople website. Here is the link to the results of my search:Munro_Ross_d_23-09-1845

Using the ScotlandsPeople website search engine, I have been unable to find either Jean Gillespie or Jean Ross, whom you associate with Munro Ross being buried in the same grave and I think this unlikely. Because, after searching ScotlandsPeople for the marriage of Munro Ross and Jean Gillespie it is shown that they married in 1798, the banns being recorded in both Dalmeny (south side of the River Forth) and Dunfermline, Fife (north of the River Forth). Furthermore, it would appear that Munro Ross re-married in 1824 to a Grace Anna Cunningham. This time the banns being read in Dalmeny and St.Cuthberts (parish church in the centre of Edinburgh). I suspect that Jean died before 1824 and that Munro remarried. My search for Munro Ross marriages link: Munro_Ross_marriages_search

I hope this makes sense and you are able to follow my logic?

My regards, Bill
