I have been struggling to detemine the parents of Mary Andrews who was married (1657?, Saybrook, Connecticut) to Thomas Post. She was born about 1638 (not November 1627 as is often claimed).
I have finally come to the conclusion that Mary is a sister of Christian Andrews who married John Birchard in 1653 (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.), that marriage later recorded at Norwich, Connecticut as well. The Birchards (Burchards) had dealings in both places.
Christian (and presumably Mary) was a daughter of the widow Catherine Andrews who married John's father Thomas Birchard about 1659. Thomas Birchard, Christian, and Mary all died in Norwich.
Anyway, my hypothesis (that Mary is daughter of the widow Catherine Andrews), would also explain why Mary's daughter Sarah Post ended up in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Catherine also had a son John Andrews who apparently had dealings in Martha's Vineyard as well. Is there any other evidence that might give additional support to my hypothesis?
