How do I get rid of "ANONYMOUS" in the field for the middle name?

I have added a new question after searching for this topic and NOT FINDING it. Now there are lots of same question - and still WT dosen't seem to think its a bug. It is a design bug, and I think this automatic insertion should be removed

It is not a bug.  The name fields all need content.  The default current last name is the last name at birth.  If you remove that name, the field still requires an entry.  If you do not input a name, the default will be "Anonymous".

A Current Last Name is not like the Last Name At Birth.  Changing a CLN can be done quite easily, without causing the same kind of issues a LNAB change can cause.

The CLN can be changed any number of times, when new information is found.  I have done this when I have found a later marriage, after already using the previous married name as the CLN.

Thank you Melanie, your point is well made and I understand. I have changed current name to be the same as Last name at birth to conform.
I should also have said that if there are multiple marriages, the last one is the CLN, with the others being entered in the "Other Last Name(s)" field.  (Quite something when she may have four marriages!)

That way the information is still there.

FROM YOUR EDIT TAB - There are two name fields in a WikiTree profile.  One is the Proper First Name:field, right below is the Proper First Name field.

What you want to do is type names in BOTH fields. Hope this helps.

When one is empty, ANONYMOUS pops in automatically.

AS FOR THE MIDDLE NAME field, just delete it.

I think you mean One is the Proper First Name:field, right below is the Preferred First Name field. :)

This happens to me as well.  I was under the impression that you only fill in the 'preferred first name' if it is different from the 'proper first name'.  'Anonymous' doesn't always come up though.  When it does, I replace it with the 'proper first name' and get on with it.  Llike I said, it doesn't always happen.
No sorry I am talking about "Current Last Name" - I can't blank it out. I don't want to use maiden name unless I know she was unmarried.
