Need help finding parents of Frederick Loring Sperry.

Question

I'm corresponding with a cousin who's 1st cousin's DNA matched my Grand-Uncle. She can't get past her Great-Grandfather and so I thought I'd ask for help. I'm currently working on sourcing and finding descendants but can't seem to break through her brick wall. Maybe I'm just tired.

His profile is attached but Frederick Loring "Fred" Sperry was b. 14 Nov 1827 - Woodbridge, CT, d. 26 Aug 1898 - Otho, Iowa. Suppose to have at least two other brothers, Dr. Charles Sperry and possibly an Alvin (she's unsure on the name) Sperry who later changed his name to S.M. Terry to get into the Army (also lied about his age).

My cousin states that her mother's sister believed Fred was orphaned and farmed out to Kinderhook, NY to apprentice as a blacksmith but being orphaned may not be true as she's unsure on that.  I put some of the info she gave me on his profile as well.

Thank you for any assistance you can give me. My cousin is 92 yrs old and I'd love to help her find her connection into the Connecticut Sperry's from England. She's heading to SLC hoping to find some info as well.

Valkenburgh. William married Jane Van Valkenburgh June 18 1825,

Reformed Dutch Church,Kinderhook,Columbia,New York,

1860 Census Kinderhook,Columbia New York shows mother in law,

Jane Taylor age 62.All of Frederick and Mary children born in New York.

They must moved to Iowa after 1860
