In case you missed the season 3 episode 7 Los Angeles airing of Genealogy Roadshow on 28 June 2016, where an applicant inquires about the possibility of being a descendant of Anneke Jans Bogardus, then click on the link above to watch this YouTube video of the entire episode. The segment concerning Anneke's history is second to last in the shows lineup and is presented by genealogist Joshua Taylor. I join with many WikiTree volunteers that include Anneke Jans as an ancestor. Enjoy the show.

Stay on the trail

My only problem about the segment is Joshua did not tell the woman that there is no way any descendants can claim property rights in NYC.  Laws were past years ago to stop all the claims.  We might be descendants, but there is no money involved and due to past claims, lineage to Anneke is confusing to new people who don't know the false claims.
Agreed, Peggy. Joshua did a pretty good job; I think he used the word "probably" or "not likely" but that leaves the door open for some people. I wish he would have said something like "over 150 years and two dozen lawsuits of which none were successful claims against Trinity, so there is no chance." Something like that would have flattened the hopes of anyone thinking there was a shot at a payday. Thanks for commenting.
Thanks Rod for posting the link.  I missed the show and just now had time to view it.  Very interesting and enjoyed it.
My pleasure, Connie. So glad you enjoyed it.

You can now view this video if you have Amazon Prime streaming. It's listed as Season 3, episode 6. It costs $2.99 to rent the segment.

I was listening very carefully because Josh Taylor is a cousin of mine and I was wondering if he would confirm that we are related to Anneke.  He confirmed that we are not.  Always nice to have some family speculation put to rest.

That's right Orinda, at least you know. He was apparently hoping, too. It must be great to have a celebrity genealogist as part of the family though. Thanks for sharing.
