Sharing old information I've collected over the years on the du Bois family. I have a problem with people changing the name of Leah du Bois. They are posting inaccurate genealogy information from old sources. This is information I had in my old genealogy file which is from Rootsweb before Ancestry took over.

It might be of interest to know there are only two known partial tracings of the Ferree family, one an address by Judge Landis to the Lancaster County Historical Society in 1917, and the other a family tracing by a contemporary Ferree living in California. But neither attempts a genealogical tracing of the family. A Ferree Family Tree record, a fairly well detailed family recording, by Major George Bennett Ferree (1963) may be found in the Philip Schaff Library of the Evangelical and Reformed Church Historical Society at 555 West James Street, Lancaster, Pa.  Young Philip Ferree, brother of Daniel, must have liked what he saw while living in New Paltz, for after the family had moved to Pennsylvania in 1712, he returned to New Paltz where he worked for Abraham DuBois until he had won the hand and heart of their daughter Leah. They were married in Kingston Reformed Church, and then he brought her to Lancaster County for the remainder of their lives. Soon after, in 1717, father Abraham DuBois journeyed to Lancaster County where he purchased 1000 acres of land adjacent to the Ferree-LeFevre tract. After the death of the Dubois parents, the land was divided among their children: Leah, who had married Philip Ferree; Abraham; Joel; Sarah, who married Rolf Elting; Catherine, who married William Donaldson; and Rachel.  Philip Ferree and wife Leah produced the following children: Abraham, who married Elizabeth; Isaac; Jacob; Philip, Jr., wheelwright whose marriage to Mary Carpenter was recorded in 1739; Joel, gunsmith, who helped appraise his uncle Philip LeFevre's gunsmith estate after his death in 1766; Rachel who married James Gardner; Magdalena, who married William Buffington; and Elizabeth who married a Zurker.  First son of Philip, Abraham and Elizabeth Ferree had the following children: Cornelius, who married Elizabeth; Israel; Rebecca, who married David Schriver; Rachel, who married David Miskimmons; Elizabeth, who married William Miller; and Mary, who married George Graff.  It might be of interest to know Abraham Ferree deeded 99 perches of land (less than an acre) for a school house for 999 years to John Carpenter, Jacob Ferree, Joel Ferree, Philip Ferree, Sam LeFevre and Isaac Ferree.  There were not many church references found in church records to the Ferree family, but those that were found are here recorded. It might be noted that many of the Ferrees moved to York County, Maryland, and to Virginia which probably explains why they are so sparse in these local church records. See APPENDIX E <Appendix_E.html>.

Thanks Sydna! You didn't give the WikiTree IDs, so I didn't take a look, but please post to their profile pages about information that needs to be changed. (Heidgerd is a fantastic source, but I have found some contradictions, even in the re-edited version, so please discuss changes with the current profile manager - if there is one. If there isn't, but you'd like to have the discussion here, please share what profiles we're talking about :)

Thanks!

I noticed you removed Corlea as her middle name but didn't note in the bio why. Could you add that? That way the person who had included Corlea (and others with the same info) will know not to add it back.

Thanks!
Thank you Liz for the Tags and response.
I found no record supporting the Corlea middle name. If anyone can prove it is the same person I'll be happy to include it. I believe the original addition was based on someone wanting a royal connection.

I've never found information on a royal line and find the  on this site to be the best researched.

Sorry I've been gone for so long. I had a heart attack and it wiped me out for a very long time.
Thanks Sydna & welcome back. Glad you're feeling better!
Hi Sydna, I just posted on Ferree-33. I found what looks like a repository of Ferree information. It looks like a catalogue of documents that are in the possession of a museum and/or historical society of Lancaster.

p.s. I remember reading that on the DuBois family that you posted but I don't remember where. I am descendant of Phillip Ferree and Leah DuBois.  Emm

Thank you Sydna for the fantastic background and pedigree information on the Ferree family. There are several mentors and seasoned WikiTree volunteers that have been working tirelessly on the DuBois family for years. I will forward this question on to one and hope that they know who can rectify the errors you found.
