Why is my grandmother's first and last names misspelt in your Wiki?

it is Ursula Muriel Self (née Sheils).  Dangerous when such sloppy research could be taken as truth in the future  The information is readily available through NLA Trove.  Similarly mistakes for the surnames for her husband and son.  I am her granddaughter.

Not quite sure I understand, unless someone has just gone into the profile and corrected it.  As far as I can see, it is all spelt correctly - unless it was wrong previously and I am just late to the party...

Just look under the 'Changes' tab ... the manager (Terry) just updated some stuff on the profile ...
Thanks.  Just done that.  Bit confusing with all these timezones... *grin*

Perhaps the person was not aware? Did you reach out to the profile manager? Honestly, this question could have been framed in a less accusatory manner. Wiki-Tree  strives to have accurate information and as the grand daughter you could provide valuable information and perhaps meet distant relatives. Did you reach out to the profile manager in a polite manner?

Have you had the opportunity to check out our Honor Code?

The profile manager is one of the nicest people I've met in Wiki-tree and happens to be the great granddaughter of the person in question.

As the granddaughter, I have offered to share links to some archival resources with the profile manager and offered to assist as I can in the future.

I am really thrilled that the prolile manager is related to me and is the great grand daughter of Ursula Muriel SELF and born in 1950s. I did not realise  I had other cousins, or that Ursula has another child.  I only know of four. One who died in 1944 with no children. There were three  others, then their children (Ursula's grandchildren) were all born 1950s+. So puzzled that there could be a great grandchild born in 1950s.

Appreciate your code, appreciate also the need for care, triple checking and authenticating from official sources [archival primary sources where provenance can be upheld]. Before posting to the web as an authoritative secondary or tertiary source.

I was even more distraught when I saw the (now corrected) entries, just days after the death of Ursula's youngest son.  I chanced upon your Wikitrees when checking for a date.  I was cross checking an obituary notice and some entries in NLA's Trove. I was trying to grasp at some good memories.
I feel your pain, as I'm sure many others would. I've attended five funerals here recently. It's at times difficult to frame what you mean in written word. I'm a published author and still struggle.

Perhaps it's time to re-address your contact with the Profile Manager - it seems obvious she is responding as the profile was changed. There is also another relative available here - true not as close. Perhaps the one will introduce you to the other.

Sometimes a well intentioned email can be taken wrong and an honest "OOPS, I'm sorry, let's start over" can do wonders.

Perhaps the healing can start with meeting a relative and writing an awesome profile for this shared relative?
The PM isn't descended from Ursula, she's descended from Athol's grandfather, the immigrant.  She's probably your 3rd cousin.

I am so sorry for your recent loss.  It is hard to lose family members and natural to look for good memories.

I think that if you were a member of WikiTree, you might understand how hard we all strive for accuracy, but being human, we all make some mistakes.  That is why part of our honor code is to give each other the benefit of the doubt.

I would like to invite you to join us.  Your knowledge of your family is valuable to us and our worldwide tree.
