WOW, I love this picture for a couple of reasons.

It reminds me of a picture that I just found of my 2nd great-grandparents. Their wedding attire is almost identical to what your great grandparents are wearing.

Second - I currently live in Kankakee County, Illinois and am very familiar with many members of the Davis family in Momence, Illinois.

I love the molding on the walls. It is very appropriate for the timing of this picture.  Also love the wallpaper.

Would like to know who the photographer of this picture was.

Thank you for submitting a local picture that brought a smile to my face tonight.

Thank you Sandy for selecting my answer. I grew up with Cye Davis as my next door neighbor. Can only hope that he is a relative of yours. What a great guy. laugh

Hi Cheryl!  Thank you so much for bringing a smile to MY face! I wish I had the pleasure of knowing some of my relatives in the Kankakee area.  I am sure they could fill in a lot of blanks for me.  When my step-mother allowed me to use a portable scanner to scan this photo, I was not permitted to remove it from the photo album, so I couldn't check the back for a studio or photographer's name.  I do know it was taken in Kankakee County, where they were married.  It could have been in Pilot or Salina or Bradley. My Grandad Lawrence Davis (the third of 4 children) was born in Bradley. Thank you so much for lifting my day.

Sandy
My mom lives in Bradley which is only about 13 miles from me.  She is 85 years old, but looks about 70. I loved the Davis family members that I grew up with. Such lovely people.  I am so glad that I put a smile on your face.

You sure brought back great memories for me. It is too bad your step-mother didn't allow you to remove the picture. I did do a little research, but couldn't find anything more than find their graves. I have a history page on Facebook, where I could post their names and see if anyone could come up with more pictures.  Not sure if that would help.

Let me know.  I would be happy to try to find more for you.

Have a wonderful rest of the day.

God bless you.

smiley  I don't have a Cye in my Ancestry Tree, but he would no doubt be related and I just haven't come across him yet laugh  My 2nd GG Jefferson Arthur Davis was born in Delaware Co, Ohio, but moved to Kankakee area about 1855 where he raised his family and is buried in Bonfield Cemetery in Bonfield.

Cheryl, that is such a wonderful and generous offer.  Any additional info would be such a blessing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Have a blessed day!
May I copy and post your picture?
Of course!
Thank you.  I will use your picture and the information on Find A Grave to see what we can find.  I will stay in touch with you.  Hopefully we will find more pictures.  Praying that we do.  So nice talking to you Sandy.
Sandy - one of my members found a family picture for you, which I have loaded on Arthur Davis' page. Please enjoy. I will see what else we find.

I notice that they are just about the same height.  I wonder if she was on the tall side or if he was short?

Hi Joy. In answer to your question, my Great Grandfather was probably between 5'8" and 5'10", as was my Dad, his brother and their Father, my Grandad. No clue as to my Great Grandmother's height, but she was surely wearing the fashionable heels of the day, which were probably about 2 inches, so she would have been shorter. Sadly, I have no other pictures of them, so have nothing to compare to. Thanks for your interest.
