Gedcom cleanups. Can you lend a hand today?

Question

There seem to be a lot of profiles in the Category: Gedcom cleanup required (more than one page). It would be nice to get it back to one page (under 200). Even less would be fantastic. Anyone have a little time to spare? Don't worry about the ones in Lowenstein and Zimmerman sub-categories.

If you'd like to get a nice thank you from me and 100 G2G points, you can answer the question and let us know how many you cleaned.

And, I have requested Ales put together a list for us, too, from scanning bios for words like "multiple copies" , duplicate sources sections, and other phrases. It should be in the database error reports starting soon.

I think the duplicate source sections or duplicate " <references/> " tag searches would be very helpful. Those are sometimes some of the easiest profiles to clean up really quick, but it makes a huge difference in appearance : )

Yes, I agree with Jayme, those are the ones where no post-merge cleanup was done. Someone recently asked about a category for them.

You also find GEDCOM profiles need of clearing by searching on CONT

CONT stands for continue and mean that next Line in the gedcom file is a continueing the current Line

Oh dear.... Interesting approach. I randomly picked one. It had actually had a little work done, but the source citations had not been cleaned.

If you add your name after CONT you can, to some extent, limit the results to those where you are the profile manager. You could use this with words other than CONT for various searches.

Anne, I have been working on the Biography challenge the past two weeks so I have done dozens of GEDCOM clean-ups. Don't know the exact number.  I have done 76 bios so far and have also added to the Sourcerer's Challenge when I do a bio that had no sources.  I'll be working on them the rest of the month.
