Sarah May was born around 1787 in West Mersea, Essex, England.  She married William Cutts in 1808.

West Mersea Has two old looking churches; West Mersea Free Church and Mersea Island Methodist Church. There is a Catholic Church of Saint Cedd and Gregory but is in a new looking building. One of these could very possibly have baptism and marriage records. Sorry I don't have exact addresses or phone numbers. The names of these are correct and would be listed.

Sarah Cutts aged 50 (rounded down) is living on her own in Mersea street, West Mersea in 1841.

In 1851 I think she is housekeeper to Edwin Benn a farmer.in West Mersea. Her place of birth is given as Abberton. She appears to have died in 1859 - FreeBMD.org.uk Lexden RD,

Thank you. Was there mention of her husband William?  He died in 1854 so I am wondering why they were not together.  Also, is the source you noted something that I can utilize?
The one I found is listed as a widow in 1851. 1841 has her living alone.

There was certainly a William died 1854, but without his age I can't check on him in 1851 census. The only one of roughly Mary's age has wife Ann.
William was born in 1786.
1841 has a William Cutts of the right age living in Braintree. But as I said above his wife appears to be Ann. There are children Jacob, William and David.
