Can anybody help me with him?  He's my gg-grandfather.  I believe his father's name was Joseph Case, born about 1779, don't know where.  Joseph died 1850 in Derry from a broken leg.  Don't know John T's mother's name, but it may have been Elizabeth as there was a daughter named Elizabeth.  She was living with John T at the time of the 1850 census, and she was listed as "insane."    Cannot find her after that.  John T and his wife Luisa (Noel) Case moved to Coe, Illinois in about 1855.

Thanks, Nancy (Case) Wolff

There was a Leonard Case, born July 29, 1786 Westmoreland City, Westmoreland, PA. He was the father of two sons, William B. Case, born 1818, was the first native born mayor of Cleveland, OH. His brother, Leonard Case, Jr,  was born in 1820 and this brother founded Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland.

This doesn't answer your question, but the Westmoreland, PA connection and common surname is interesting. Maybe these men are cousins to your Case line.

Could be, Frank.  Are you a descendant of Leonard, or do you know any descendants of him?  My dad took a DNA test and only matched one other Case in the FTDNA database.  The other person is a lady in NY whose father contributed DNA before he died.  There are numerous Cases in this database, but we are the only 2 who match each other.

Thank you for answering.

I am a very distant cousin by marriage. Leonard Case born July 29, 1786 was the son of Mesach Case who was from Holland. Mesach died in 1866. Mesach Case had been living in Trumbull County, OH, prior to his death.

William Case who was Leonard Case, Junior's brother, is buried in Erie Street Cemetery. Erie Street's name became East 9th Street when the named streets became numbered streets in downtown Cleveland.

Hi Frank,

Do you know of any Case descendants?  Maybe they would be willing to do a DNA test.

I have been aware of the Meshach Case line, but haven't been able to prove that we are related.

My grandfather was orphaned as a boy and never talked about his family very much.  One thing he did say, though, was that they were of Dutch descent.

There is info about Leonard Case Jr. at: http://ech.case.edu/cgi/article.pl?id=CLJ

His brother is highlighted there as WM.CASE . You can click on that and it will tell you about his brother. Then click on Leonard Case, Sr. which takes you to more info and the names of both of his parents, Meshack and Magdalene (Eckstein) Case

There are sites that have DNA studies for surnames including CASE.

I don't know any current descendants of the CASE line.
