The name originated in England.
It is as written in reference to a tree.
Also have seen as Rountree, Rouantree, Rowantree and now referenced as Roundtree.
It may have come over to colonial America with Abner Rountree. He purchased the Spivey Plantation/Farm located in North Carolina, abt mid 1700's.

No RoundTree Native American Idianans. Of any nation Cherokee, Iriquois,

The Rountree family was in a number of colonial areas. Most noted was Abner Rountree.

Some Rountree surnames were picked by people with no names, (former slaves), some may have kept the slave owners name. Some people may be descendants of the original Rountree first families.
