Edited a profile and a nickname that had double quotes and it auto removed the nickname

I edited the following profile http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bradley-6356 as it came up on a DB Errors with wrong word in nick names (754) and separators in nickname (751). When the profile was selected for editing the nick name field was blank. I edited a location and looked at the change log and found out I had removed "Uncle Buddy" - note the quotes were in the nick name field. I added Uncle Buddy back in the nick name field. It appears when double quotes are present they value no longer displays in the nickname field.

Yes, those invisible names in quotes, need to be retyped if any edits are done.  This post has me wondering how many of them may be getting lost, without the editor noticing that they are there.

Maybe there should be an alert, to compare the profile header name with what is seen in edit, because there are a lot of these.
a data loss bug should be considered serious... could you edit your question and add the "tech" tag to get the attention of the code techs?

according to the Name Field Styles and Standard :

Other Nicknames

This field could also be called Other First NamesAlso Known As or Aliases.

This can be used for almost anything. It's appropriate to put any first name here that doesn't fit neatly into the Proper First Name or Preferred First Name.

This and the Other Last Names field are the only one that can include multiple names. Separate these with commas (e.g. Frank, Frank the Tank).

Do not include quotation marks.

hope that helps

Kelly,Sorry for not being clear. I was trying to remove the double quotes that were already present in a profile. When I went to edit the profile the nickname field appeared as blanks. It should have had the "Uncle Buddy" in the nickname field and it should have allowed me to remove the double quotes. Instead the field was not loaded properly and appeared as blank. Furthermore, when I changed another field, WikiTree thought I had blanked out the nickname field which I had not.
If you see a nickname on a profile with double quotes in front and behind or with quotes inside the nickname, the first thing you should do:

1. Copy the entire nickname (the material between the first quote and the last set of quotes

2. Paste it into the Additional Nickname field

3. Edit out all the quote marks, making the field a comma separated list of nicknames.

4. Save your changes.

5. Continue with your seach or editing.
