G2G: Information about August Holmes or Elsie Annie Holmes?

Elsie Annie Holmes [married name Reynolds] was my great-grandmother and August Holmes was my great-great-grandfather [her father]. She was born c. 1890, died 1920 of pneumonia, tuberculosis, and the Spanish Influenza, with three children, Harold Winifred and Elizabeth, by her husband Harold Reynolds. She [I believe] had at least two brothers; Bob and Dewitt. The licence for her marriage was got in Westchester County New York so she may have been a resident of there.

August [or so I have been told] came from Glasgow, Scotland, in 1860 when he was nine. That is all that I know about him [except that he had three possibly more children] and that his grandson Harold was said to have looked like him in 1938. Does anyone have any information about either of these two individuals?

It may do good to start bottom and work back again, conflicting data out there, and I do not have access to all your data.
