Was instructed to click on search G2G, after inputting Henderson-10034, in top left box next  to "search G2G.". Brings up search list, not a Profile.

Thanks, Henderson-9982.N

if I am understanding you, in the top browser search bar type (to use your example):

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Henderson-10034

this will bring up the profile for Henderson-10034

Hi Cynthia,

I go to my Profile Jack ID # Henderson-9982. I Insert Henderson-10034. in small box, top of page, little left of  center. Click on search " tennis racket" .And this screen pops-up.

  http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Henderson-10034.

Thanks for your time, Jack
Jack, I see the source of your confusion...

the "Search G2G" button will search the discussion forum here for the string of letters you've typed into the box (including the dash and numbers, which it likely won't find being discussed).

The search box on your profile page is trying to find a genealogy list of surnames (which will never include a dash and numbers). The "tennis racket" is really a "magnifying glass", intended to signify searching :)

As Dave and Cynthia were suggesting though, is to go higher, into your web browser URL search bar (which some browsers hide by default these days), and have to modify the string of letters and slashes in that area, replacing your profile ID number with the one you're hoping to find.

Cynthia gave you the link to that one already. Just click on her link.

You can see it differs from yours because it has the word "wiki" between the slashes, while yours has the word "genealogy" there instead.

Hope this helps clear up some confusion.
Got it now

Thanks all

The easiest way to find a profile, if you have the ID is to pull up your profile, go up to the very top where it shows the www.wikitree... thing and change the end to match the profile you want.  I this case since it's a Henderson you just need to change the number portion of the ID.  It should show you the ID you want  an you can click on it and go to the proper ID.  If it isn't someone with your surname, you will also have to change the surname part of the ID.

Hi  Dave,

Appreciate the answer. I must be doing something wrong. Did exactly as you instructed, Even changed ID # to Henderson-100002. Results always the same.

Please advise your opinion , Jack

Yes
http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Henderson-100002
will come up empty: the "genealogy" part of the link means it's a surname search and should not contain a number, just plain Henderson (which will bring up over 9000 results, so one would need to be more specific.

In your sample ID I think there must be one zero too many. You are perhaps looking for
http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Henderson-10002
Note that there is "wiki" in the middle part of the address for profile pages.

you're correct.

thanks
