Did you see the new category display changes?

Hi WikiTreers,

We just released a round of improvements to how profiles are listed on category pages. For example, see the Unsourced Profiles category.

You can now see the profiles' privacy level. It's indicated by the colored dot. As many of you know, white is Open. If you're generously helping adding sources to Unsourced Profiles, Open profiles are really the only ones you can help with.

We wanted to make this improvement in time for the Source-a-Thon. Thank you to Kitty Cooper and others who suggested it.

At the same time, we made some other improvements. Names are now formatted more conventionally (short version for private people, long version for public people), there are exact birth dates and death dates, and best of all, birth locations for public profiles.

Let me know if you see anything odd related to categories. It could be a bug. Thanks!

Onward and upward, for the free family tree,

Great job, WikiTree team! Very much a needed improvement.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Looks good - and useful too!
The site is just getting better and better. Well done!
This is great. It also effects Free-Space pages shown in a Category. Now, both the Free-Space page name is shown and the page name shown in the edit tab. This causes some names to appear twice in the Category list (names appear side-by-side). If the extra name field shown in the edit tab is used for extra information about the title, it could be very useful.

...on second thought, this won't work because it would also change the name of the Free-Space page.

That's a great improvement. Could I suggest a further tweak to the sort order? At the moment this seems to be LNAB and first name only, which can result in an odd looking order. Here's an example - on this page [Kapunda, South Australia] we have:

If we could add a further sort by Middle Name, and date of birth this would appear as:

Which seems more logical, and easier to use when there are many similar names.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!  Did I mention I loved it?  Just in case I didn't...I LOVE IT!

Love the locations in these unsourced profiles. It makes them POP out better.
I love the locations, as well.  Helps me work out which unsourced profile I am likely to have a chance at sourcing..

I just LOVE this!

Great addition, but....

At http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Category:Unsourced_Profiles&from=A it says "There are 200 profiles on this category page."

Prior to the improvement I recall the total number of profiles was listed.  If not, can we have it list the total in the category and not just the total for the page?

Thanks and sincerely, Peter

I like it. I might even start checking that list out again if I ever get all the profiles I find in my own family lines that should, but do not even have that category added to them.

Yea!! Now I won't have to keep an annotated list for myself - the county location for tiny Delaware makes all the difference in the world. Thanks so much.
