I hava Samuel O Puckett born 1819 - 1821 in Laurens Co., SC.  He married Elizabeth Calmes (Calmers) Hairston (Herston) in roughly 1849.  They show up living with Peter Hairstons (Elizabeth's father) in 1850 then move to Sevier County, Arkansas where they are buried.

We are getting DNA matches with members of the following lines:

Richard Puckett 1775 Laurens SC 1856 Gwinnett GA

Robert Madison Puckett 1829 Wilson, TN 1878 Marshall, KY

Trying to find a connection between these lines.  I thought I'd start with a better understanding of the G W Puckett lines and related name confusion. Any information that could help would be welcome!

Hi Kerry,

Interesting I should find this question about the Puckett clan and this person in particular. You and I are DNA matches. I have never been able to place you into my tree in the Puckett lineup, but we both have matches within the Richard Puckett family. I have a match running through this Richard's sibling James Pucket Jr, if you have Richard's parents as James Puckett and Martha Dabney. You can email me and we can discuss further.

George Dillard left a will in 1846 in Laurens Co, SC naming his living children and grandson Samuel Puckett.  The will does not indicate who Samuel's parents were.

But this would suggest that Samuel Puckett's mother was a Dillard.

P.S. do you have a source for this will? It would be great to add it to the profile of Samuel O Pucket: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Puckett-1766

At https://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/ search for Pucker, Samuel.  It is misindexed as Pucker rather than Puckett, because whoever typed out the will misread it as Pucker.  In the original, it is obviously Puckett, IMO.  Original is Laurens Co, SC Will Book A:69 (004754156:121) https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939L-JN99-RC?i=120&cc=1919417&cat=72226.

There is also this link - https://schistory.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Palmer-family-papers-0661.00.pdf.  Search for Puckett.  It says Samuel Puckett released his claim to Elvira Dillard's estate in 1860 - must have been early 1860, and then he moved west before the 1860 census was taken.  Elvira Dillard was Samuel's aunt.  https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/69467676/elvyra-dillard
