Parents of Daniel Edwards Brookhaven , Middle Island New York

Question

I know Daniel Edwards was in Middle Island Brookhaven New York. Not too sure of his place of birth, but the year was 1790-1791 and his death was 1870 in New York. He married Sarah Sweezey (Swazey) and had children. The one I am following is Jehiel J. Edwards. There is a Jehiel B Edwards, but that is the wrong family line. I just haven't been able to find Daniels' parents and I am stymied. Any heads up on which way to turn would be good.

Also known as Swezeytown after David Edwards sold Mr. Sweezey over 1000 acres of land.  I did find some work that someone else was doing to try and figure out who Daniels parents were, but it was sketchy at best. Saying that either John Edwards or Jonathan Edwards was the father but definitely related to David Edwards... Still need some help here.

I have been going over the day books of Richard M. Bayles. He  has it entered that David and Jonathan Edwards were brothers. Their father, David Sr. lived in Setauket. The land owned by David is described as being the same as owned by Daniel, Jeheil and Edwin. When I had looked at this material before, there was a William Edwards who signed the Association and we believed he was a son of David. There is also a Jonathan who had a request for a Revolutionary War pension, which can be found on Heritage Quest. In his pension it's stated that he is the son of David.

East Hampton History

 This has a comprehensive study of Edwards families researched by Jeannette Edwards Rattray who was a journalist in East Hampton, and an Edwards.

EDWARDS, JONATHON,  was born in Middle Island February 13 1788 and was married to Mary Overton Dec 21 1818 and had two childen Maria and Floyd. Jonathon inherited the farm his father had with a homestead on Miller Place Yaphank Road just north of Whiskey Road. It is said his father arrived from Canada sometime before 1850 and was given 300 acres of property, he also brought with him seedlings of White Pine. There is a white pine forest south of Whiskey Road near the twin ponds. It is said that other seedlings were planted by William Dayton creating what is now "Prosser Pines". The land Jonathon inherited went north to Miller Place and west to the Swezey property in "Swezeytown". Jonathon died in 1866 Age 78
