Thank you so much, Rod. Your photo and the subsequent comments caused me to hop onto "my trusty steed, Tangent,"* and get lost in hyperspace. I paused here first: "O Captain My Captain"

A common thread between Whitman and Lincoln is that they were both largely self-educated. The poet and his captain, corresponding with a viewing of the movie DPS, offer us a reminder that we should not cease learning when we depart the classroom. Thanks, Jeanne for the tour; so glad you enjoyed the journey.
Rod, I have no word to express my feeling when I first saw that picture so clear, a big bold proud man sitting in his chair.

What a wonderful picture and I sure thank you for sharing with the Wiki Community.
You're welcome David. I share in a challenge he lived with. He was a perfectionist, never satisfied with his work. It can be a positive or a negative depending on perspective. He left us his expressive views in verse and details of his life of deeds, recorded as if to challenge us to live nobly and thoughtfully; to strive for excellence. He was a gifted and honorable man.

Thank you Dorothy for sharing these examples of Whitman's character and contributions during a time of intense conflict.
You are more than welcome, Rod! And thank you for sharing "Oh captain, my captain!" which always reminds my of the great performance by Robin Williams,

Thanks, Susan, for the Best Answer Star. As always, isn't Wikitree the finest?
Dead Poets Society was an instant classic; one of my favorites. The Academy dropped the ball on that one as RW earned an Oscar.
Agreed, Rod.
