How does one go about creating a Gedcom?

I was reading that if I have a Gedcom it would search all the people in my line free so I would like to make a Gedcom so it auto generate s sources. Rather than creating, merging and leaving unsourced data can I just create a Gedcom?

First you need software that will create the Gedcom file

Do you use a genealogy software on your home computer for your family tree? Or do you have a family tree elsewhere online, such as ancestry.com or MyHeritage? If you do, a gedcom can be created from most software programs and online sites. But gedcoms are not always the best way to go.
