Shared Photo: Escort Wagon and Wagoner and his 4-mule team of the 76th Field Artillery Regiment

Question

This photo was approved to post on WikiTree by the Director of the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps Historical Preservation Group, Greg Krenzelok.  Like so many others, we have these great ancestors that volunteered to fight for the cause during the Civil War, both sides.  Most were just farmers who left their families.  This particular individual was a carpenter by trade and my 3G Uncle, who became a Wagoner during the Civil War. After the war he became a Master Wagon Builder.

I wanted to share this family photo of a 'Wagoner' in the army like my uncle Jabez Chase with the community. Although this is not Jabez, it gives me an idea of what he did during this dreadful time in our nation. Location of this image: The King City March. Date: 1932

 I have been looking for a photo like this for years and am so jazzed that you posted it.  There are two brothers in my family tree and both of them were wagonmasters in the Union Army during the Civil War.  I also checked out your Duties of the US Army Wagoner page.  You've done a great job. Wow, this is like Christmas finding all this info!

This is an incredibly interesting photo! And you are a great role model for spending time to get permission to use it. An incredible time in US history in which brother fought against brothers and neighbors fought against neighbors. We are still dealing with the "fall out" of this war at home even though generations and decades have passed, Thank you for posting it, Scott.
