This photo was approved to post on WikiTree by the Director of the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps Historical Preservation Group, Greg Krenzelok.  Like so many others, we have these great ancestors that volunteered to fight for the cause during the Civil War, both sides.  Most were just farmers who left their families.  This particular individual was a carpenter by trade and my 3G Uncle, who became a Wagoner during the Civil War. After the war he became a Master Wagon Builder.

I wanted to share this family photo of a 'Wagoner' in the army like my uncle Jabez Chase with the community. Although this is not Jabez, it gives me an idea of what he did during this dreadful time in our nation. Location of this image: The King City March. Date: 1932

I must say what a amazing photo. Of the brave men that leave there home to fight for the course in the civil war. What a lot of story in a great photo like this.

Like to thank you for sharing
Hi Scott,

I must agree what a wonderful photo and you have a great piece of history in your family.. it really is an amazing photo.

Thank you for sharing with our wiki community
Greg,
I have been looking for a photo like this for years and am so jazzed that you posted it.  There are two brothers in my family tree and both of them were wagonmasters in the Union Army during the Civil War.  I also checked out your Duties of the US Army Wagoner page.  You've done a great job. Wow, this is like Christmas finding all this info!
Thanks so much.
Hi Connie!

This is Scott (not Greg).

Greg Krenzelok is Director of the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps Historical Preservation Group.  He is the one that gave me permission to use the image of the 'Wagonmaster'.

I discovered the photo on his page at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gregkrenzelok/veterinary%20corp%20in%20ww1/wagonerduties.html

You may contact Greg through his page above.  At the top of the page there you will find a link to him.

Sorry this took so long to reply to you but I just saw that the comment was to Greg not to me.  I don't think Greg is a WikiTree profiler.

Best of luck,

Scott Lee
Scott, Thank you for sharing this. My 2GGF was a wagoner.

This is an incredibly interesting photo! And you are a great role model for spending time to get permission to use it. An incredible time in US history in which brother fought against brothers and neighbors fought against neighbors. We are still dealing with the "fall out" of this war at home even though generations and decades have passed, Thank you for posting it, Scott.
