Sir Randolph (Brereton) and Knight of Malpas in Cheshire and his wife Eleanor Dutton were the parents of a number of children, which  includes a John Brereton[[Brereton-673]] born in Malpas about 1478, but given the information posted on Brereton-3, the birth year for John Brereton would have to corrected by a certified pre-1500 member. "On 14 December 1499, Randolph Brereton de Malpas, knight, became the Patron of the Higher Moiety of Malpas, and his son, John Brereton, cl'us, was the Rector. John Brereton resigned this post on 26 March, 1502, and the patron was replaced then as well.[2] John would have needed to be an ordained priest to take up the post of rector in 1499, so he was at least 21 years old, therefore born before 1478. As John was not his oldest son, Randall was probably born at least 21 years prior to John's birth, so around 1457. "
