Automatically generate references for Census of Canada

Hi,

I keep finding sources in the Census of Canada database. For example Catherina Voisin. Now I need to create the source reference manually (painful). If someone else is citing a similar source I am certain that they would do it differently. I created a JavaScript bookmarklet to generate the reference for me, so I do not have to rewrite all the data. But again other people might cite the same record differently.

I wish there was a "Add Source" box on wikitree where I could paste the Census of Canada link, e.g. http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1891/Pages/item.aspx?itemid=1169978, and wikitree would automatically generate the reference/source (standard for everyone), and additionally upload the JPEG to wikitree (if the license permits).

This would create standardized references for all the profiles. It would also diminish the burden for all the users.

I took the Census of Canada as an example, but ideally wikitree would be able to understand different "official" sources and do this work automatically.

Thank you for your consideration,
