This instruction on the "Ask a question or post a new message" form should be removed or altered, shouldn't it?

At the top of the question form it states:

"If you're asking about a person first create a profile so we can see the current state of your research."

Doesn't that potentially lead to flawed, unusable or at the very least "Unknown" LNAB's?  Maybe even duplicates?

I for one, am not comfortable creating a profile until I have some answers.

Just an observation.

Well, if someone wants help with a family member, it's much easier to help if a profile is present to work from.  Even if there's not much to work from it's better to have something to work with than nothing.  And with the new research tool here, it's not that difficult to add actual sources most of the time  But that's just my opinion.

Yes, I do see the point of it.  Perhaps it could read, something like this:

"If you're asking about a person who already has a profile, then post the Wikitree-ID.  If the person has no profile, then please include as much info as you can."

Thanx Dave
