My family from North Carolina also lived in Old Pendleton District of South Carolina this is a upper part of South Carolina and lower part of North Carolina and around this time and even to today my family owed land on both sides so some of these places they was born could have been S.C or N.C just depends on if they went out the front door or back door I guess to have their children,  Sylva, N.C or Old Pendleton District, S.C, ( Cherokee Territory )  This is referring to other Wilson members William Wilson was born in Rutherford but Hamburg Township is located near Sylva,  N.C ? THANKS

"Old Pendleton" contains records for upstate SC and southwestern North Carolina. The NC/SC border in that area is very steep and very difficult to determine - even today. See this video - especially the section about Gorges State Park:  http://www.newsobserver.com/news/state/north-carolina/article80007362.html

Jackson County was not formed until 1851. Prior to that it was part of Macon (1838), Haywood (~1805), Buncombe ~1790) and Rutherford Counties. Here is a very helpful list where records are, and the time frames: http://www.shahall.com/counties.html
