How can I get the file (pdf) to be the "display" / thumbnail instead of the pdf icon?

Question

Photos that I uploaded work ok, so I don't think it's my Internet speed (verrry slow).  But I have noticed that it takes a few seconds for thumbnails to replace Adobe icons in directories for files, so maybe it is.

Is this still true, or has WikiTree improved the process to be able to substitute a cover image for a PDF file?

just checked the page I'd referenced... still the Adobe icon, so expect it's still true. When I want to have a "real" thumbnail, I upload a jpg instead of a pdf.

Hi Liz,

Our system can't create thumbnail images from PDFs. We can only show the PDF icon that indicates the file type.

As for the time it takes to create the icon, if that's what you're asking about, not sure ...

That answers my question - the thumbnail is supposed to be the icon.  The icon loads immediately. (In Adobe, when I select a file folder to open a pdf from and the display is set for large icons, it takes a few seconds for the icon to turn into a mini-image of the document).  Since I'm on dial-up, I thought maybe my connection was giving up on something.  But as there's nothing more than the icon to see, there's no more worries on this issue  :)
