Brasseur - born late 1800's in Belgum, came to Canada in early 1900's

This might be your Louis.  There is no middle name or initial, so it may or may not be the person you are seeking.  The YOB is 1889 and immigration year is 1907 so that fits.  The immigration record shows a ship named "Mount Temple" coming into St. John, New Brunswick. The census record shows an occupation of Chef and a 19YO wife named Blanche. Can you confirm if these fit?  They might give someone else some good clues to work from.

"Canada Census, 1916," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KMGP-38K : 5 November 2014), Louis Brasseur, Manitoba, Canada; citing p. 5, line 4; Library and Archives Canada, Ottawa, Ontario; FHL microfilm 2,434,944.

Geneanet.org is the European equivalent of Ancestry.  There is both a free search site and a paid version.  You can send a message using the free side or the paid side to the tree owner.   If you need help writing it in French, let me know.    He does not cite his sources but I would send an emails asking him for them.  You will need to scroll down to see your man.  However this does not show Canada but it does show born in Belgium and died in France at age 70.

This seems to be a fairly common name when I queried just on the name in geneanet.

I would suggest you join the free side and query for him using several different query versions.
