William Pannill has one of those variously spelled names, but it does seem that "Pannill" is "correct" (see profile)  Please PPP?

Thanks in advance!

PPP isn't for that according to what I read. (you'll have to search for the policy). Or is every name with spelling variations eligible?

Hi Mikey,

The policy on PPP which is actually to protect the profile spelling and number reads - must have these four qualities:

1) project = Southern Colonists

2) born over 200 yrs ago = BD c. 1700

3) lowest numbered ID Pannill-2 (for spelling, please see bio section on Spelling of the Name)

4) duplicated = one merge is proposed, Pinnell-259 proposed into Pannill-2

Is there something missing?  Thank you in advance.

Edit: added example of another merge already completed from Changes Pages: Pannell-120 into Pinnell-259 on 1 June 2116

Edit: spelling corrected

sorry can't link, using phone... updated guidance from   Chris
says projects should only protect special profiles, Southern Colonieawill have to change a lot including some of mine... none of your points 1-4 are special, spelling. is just ordinary run of the mill condition for Colonial times...but I'{m also nobody so see what the VIPs here say
What the project is doing is standard operating procedure for protecting profiles that are likely to be duplicated, that are the targets for merges, and where a spelling has been identified as the preferred LNAB. If policy has changed then Chris needs to communicate to the projects.
As a leader of Southern Colonies, my understanding is that Jillaine and Cynthia are correct. With the redirect problem, we can't afford to have merges to change name spellings over and over. We must identify the lowest number correct LNAB and protect that when there are multiple spellings used in the family and merges (which there will always be in this era).
