Trying to trace the parents or siblings of Christian Peter Owen

Question

Hi, Does anyone have the name Christian Peter Owen as a son or sibling in a family tree. Christian was born on 1 January 1840, place unknown. His death certificate/notice states Nationality - South African/British which leads me to believe that the person completing the form [his youngest son] did not know where his father was born. Christian had 9 children. I have searched through various registers, including the South African archives, available to us in South Africa and have come up with a blank. Thank you.

I've looked on a couple of UK sites (FreeBMD and findmypast.co.uk) but can't see anything close. Also consider the possibility that the 1 January is just a default value.
