Can last names be changed without losing history of changes?

There are a dozen Gagne' profiles that should be Gagné but doing so will lose the history of changes. Is there any way to keep history.

The information is not lost. As an example, Gagnier Gagne-2 was merged into Gagne'-7 on Oct. 17.

The new Changes Tab is here: http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:NetworkFeed&who=Gagne%27-7

The old changes are not lost, they are here: http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:NetworkFeed&who=Gagnier%20Gagne-2

The link to the "Lost" information can only be found on the new Changes Tab, in the line for the merge on Oct. 17. It is not obvious and it may be hard to find, but it is still there.

Thank you for this answer. You learn something new every day.

I've copied Rick Pierpont's information above so that I can use the IMPORTANT url and Rick's invaluable information re How to Use "the new Changes" tab.

How else would we have known? It seems to me that      this too could be part of the tools to give people when they first show up at WTree.

Do we have someone in charge of "The Best Ideas to Enjoy Wikitree"? (Not me.)
