:"I just started using the World Family Tree CD's, vol.'s 1-5 and noticed the same error repeated in several Woods family trees. The error is the listing of Michael Woods 684-1762, the son of John Woods and Elizabeth _Worsop_ of Northern Ireland. In the 1970's and 80's several researchers examined Irish records. Oneof the best descriptions of one such effort is in "Woods-Wallace Cousin Clues" by Ruth Lamar Petracek. Elizabeth Worsop was married to _a_ John Wood (no "s") and was his second wife, but not the ancestor of the Borden Grant, Virginia Woods. Elizabeth Worsop is proven to have had _NO_ children. (Public Recordsoffice, Belfast, Ireland, T 559, Vol. 42, p. 148)"

This also applies to the other children of John Woods.

This type of problem is usually do to clickophiles. In other words, error gets posted and others repeat it by copying it into their information

Clickophiles - new word for me so google it, which led to this great blog about clickophiles :D  Very funny, but unfortunately, so true and not funny

Do you know if those Family Tree CDs are still available?
There are several others available on the web.  I don't know which are available as CDs.

All records should be backed up by information from Birth, Death and Marriage certificates or other reliable sources. Be careful that some information on death certs is sometimes given by relatives and may be incorrect.

Never take another persons information as correct for you to use. Check and double check before use. eg:- were they born before they were married; were they born before they had died. I see many times where a person was married before they were born. Regards Barrie

PS Careful not to mix up Birth-Baptism & Death-Burial dates
