My mother was a Holt from Co Kildare and I am looking for information on when the Holts came to Ireland.

Hi, the earliest reference Ive found is to Thomas Holt in Queens County in 1641.

I agree tie the the answered submitted by anomymous... I had always been under the impression that my Holt line was  truly Irish but it does seem likely that they came from England probably invited to leave England after the 1600s.  So far I have traced ancestor only as far as 1804i in Westmeath. but have been told that they orignate from Kildare.... wonder if we are  very distant relatives
