Looking for Parents of Joseph Edward Stewart/Stuart.

Seems easy enough on the surface. According to Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates father was Felix Claxton Stewart and mother was Emily Upchurch. He had a sister of the same parentage b. 1905, Sadie Edra Stewart. Problem is, I can't find any of them on 1910 Census, and there seems to have been 2 Felix Claxton Stewarts in the same area/ time period. One of them married a Maude B. and died in 1932. The other shows up with a WW1 Pension record as dying in 1917. One of them was the son of Felix Washington Stewart, but I'm not certain whether that was my Felix Claxton or the husband of Maude. I've been combing FamilySearch and Google for the last 2 days, anybody got any insight on these 2 oh so commonly named Felix Claxton Stewarts?

Hi Phillip - the 1910 census shows Joseph Edward as going by Edward.  The father goes by Claxton not Felix.  I think Claxton married both women because Emily Upchurch died in 1911 and Claxton probably re-married and went on to have more children.  Wife name Amy could be a transcription error instead of Emily.  I will do some more searching. Do you think this is the correct family?  Patricia.

Yes! Thank you Patricia! Emily was called Emmie on Joseph Edwards marriage record, so I figure that was a frequently used nickname that would easily be misunderstood as Amy. I guess that combined with both the children being listed by middle names and born in VA rather than NC was just throwing me off.

I have to.do some more.digging, but I think I found a marriage.record for Felix Claxton and Maude Belle, but I believe it was around 1904, meaning a different Felix Claxton Stewart. I also have a Military Pension saying Felix died in 1916:

Name    Felix C Stewart
Event Type    Pension
Event Date    1907-1933
Event Place    United States
Form Type    Army Invalid
Death Date    22 Jun 1916

But that 1910 Census Record was the link I was missing... Thank you so much!
