War of the Roses - Battle of Towton 1461

For anyone interested in this battle the Towton Battlefield Society is a useful site - http://www.towton.org.uk/

Many of our ancestors took part in and perished in this battle - one of the bloodiest on English soil, here two 'kings' of England fought for the crown and Henry VI (in reality king in name only) the Lancastrian king was 'deposed', Edward son of Richard of York triumphed, although essentially it was a battle between vengeful, powerful members of the aristocracy (in my opinion!)
